It’s that time of year again, where we dust off our banjo’s and fire up the old penny whistle’s (that was meant to sound much less like a euphemism when I started typing). Stereotypes aside, it’s almost time for this years Leigh Folk Festival! The weekend of 22nd-25th June to be exact. Every year, for the past ten years or so, we’ve curated a venue for the festival and this year we’re back again with our mixture of spoken word, comedy and live music. We’re very excited to reveal that we’ll be collaborating with Harbour Song Records in the lower room at the Leigh on Sea Sailing Club from 12pm onwards. We will have live music from the sublime Land Observations who we’ve been after at Sundown for a long time, such a fan of James Brooks, whose music has just been featured in the HBO series The Young Pope with Jude Law and Diane Keaton. There will also be fun beats and Shrigley-esque homemade adverts in the guise of electronic wizard; Pancake Promises, you will not want to miss this unique performance. We’ll have comedy from the brilliant Jay Foreman who has performed at Sundown a few times in the past, we love him. Jay recently supported Dave Gorman on his UK tour, he’s a hit on YouTube, his comedy songs will have you in stitches. He’s always hilarious and a blinkin’ nice bloke to boot! Spoken word will be delivered in the form of Cherry Scott, Gill West, Jo Overfield, Ray Morgan and Rachel Dalton. We can’t wait for this one!
Check out Harbour Song Records for their full line-up, we’re a big supporter of MG Boulter, he has great taste in music to add to his long list of talents so we know the line-up is going to be amazing. So make sure you’re downstairs in the Sailing Club on Sunday, 25th June, from 12pm for a Harbour Song Sundown Arts Extravaganza….full line-up on social media soon…..
