We just had to take a dive…

sundown_trawler_2016An appreciative nod to Leonard Cohen for the title of this post.  Many thanks to our audience who turned up to support us and Trawler for the launch of the ‘arts issue’ of this exciting publication.  We know it was a hefty price and so we are even more thankful than normal.  Your hard earned cash that you donated will successfully go to funding the next issue of Trawler newspaper, a beautiful piece of print for our lovely town.  You can read the paper here or pick up from local cafes, arts centres, libraries etc.  You have also helped fund and sustain Sundown Arts, a non-profit arts organisation showcasing local and national artistic talent.  Without you, these events and collectives could not exist and carry on.  In a corrupted world full of uncertainty and vulnerability, all we can do is look to like-minded people such as this rich arts community we have. You all certainly showed that at this event and we are forever grateful to you. People are powerful, in the right way as much as the wrong, and people together creating, producing, writing, performing, is a superb way to live and love together.  Now, I shall put my tambourine down and continue to say additional thanks to all the performers and contributors involved, both with the Trawler newspaper and during the event on the night.  Ray Morgan from Sundown, was guest editor, and it was a mammoth but ultimately rewarding task.  Huge thanks to Rich and the team at Grow Creative Company in Leigh on Sea for the opportunity and support throughout, they always do such a beautiful job with the design and execution of this publication, it’s a real touch of class.  They have been very supportive of Sundown and what we do and we thank you very much.  All the artists involved on the night were brilliant, great poetry, comedy, music and even a bit of theatre!  Such a brilliant night, thanks so much everyone, of course massive thanks to Ray Morgan – the brains behind this special issue and event, Chris & Ryan for sound duties and tech support, Leigh Community Centre caretaker staff and anyone else who helped.  Onto our next event…..Chrrriiiissttttmmmaaasssss!!!
