Once again, Sundown Arts will be at the Clarendon Scout Hut, High St, Leigh on Sea old town, on Sun, 29th June from 4 – 7pm for this years 23rd Leigh Folk Festival with support using public funding from the National Lottery and Arts Council England. I think it’s our 9th or 10th year at the folk festival and we love being involved in this quality FREE festival. Everyone works so hard, voluntarily, to put this festival together each year alongside their other jobs. You can smell the passion that goes into this and it smells like, um, a really good ale. So who have we got in the hut this year?
* Sundown Poets – Jo Overfield, Cherry Scott, and a special set from Ray Morgan
* Simon Blackman – a witty, Milligan-esque poet from Billericay with hilarious deadpan delivery
*Nigel of Bermondsey – expect spoken word, folklore, history, unique live performance
*Haiku Salut – an instrumental trio from Derbyshire who descrive themselves as ‘Baroque-pop-folktronic-neo-classical-something or other’
*The Blazing Zoos – a country band from London featuring Gen Matthews, formerly of Jesus Jones, been described as ‘phenomenally marvellous’
*Ghost Music – featuring members of The Hilmisters and Plantman, Ghost Music are garage rock, psychadelic guitars, awesome basically
WE ARE SO EXCITED! We’ve got an excellent line-up, we’ll be giving away FREE second hand books and FREE stickers. We also hope to have lots of electrical fans in the hut so it’s not so much of a hot hut this year. But where else will Sundown be at the festival over the weekend? Here’s an outline of where we’ll be and what we’re up to:
