This Autumn, Sundown Arts turns 10 years old – yes we”ll have been running for 10 years, putting on affordable, sometimes FREE, unique and interesting arts events – for 10 bloody YEARS!! Many other organisers over the years have said to us that the fact we’ve been going for so long and managed to keep going, is very rare and we should be proud of it. Well, we are proud of it and to celebrate we’re putting on a 10th birthday party for all of you!
Our 10th all-dayer event will take place on Sat, Sept 21st, at the Leigh Community Centre from 12pm until 10pm. During the day (12pm – 5.30pm) we’ll be specialising in entertainment for children & families. So often mums & dads & other guardians don’t get to join in the fun at Sundown so we’re concentrating on our ‘day’ part of this event for you, we’re calling it ‘Sun Up’. It’ll be £5.00 for the day for adults, Under 5’s go free and Over 5’s is just £2.00. Tickets will be available from Cafe Valise which is downstairs in the foyer of Leigh Community Centre, as of Tues 30th July but you can also apply through Sundown, via this website – give us your details and we’ll put you down for tickets. Or you can come along on the day and buy on the door! But once we reach capacity, for health & safety reasons, we will have to limit the numbers.
Who will be performing? Well for our ‘Sun Up’ part of the day for kids & families we will have infamous children’s stand-up comedian, Jamie Campbell, who has played numerous festivals for years wowing kids & families. There’s going to be 3 rooms of entertainment – Sound & Vision Room, Words & Pictures Room and then, in the foyer where Cafe Valise will be open for food, cake & refreshments, local ice-cream dons Poco Gelato and local children’s bookshop Jacqson Diego with a pop-up version of their bookshop – providing an area where parents can read with their children, as well as books for sale too. Here’s the line up for ‘Sun Up’:
Sound & Vision Room
Card tricks with Joe Davies, Jamie Campbell (kids stand-up), Grand Reunion (local folk legends), 4 & 20 Blackbirds (local choir), Amanda Restell Dance Academy (local dance performances), Little Penguin Sound Workshop for Kids
Words & Pictures Room

As of 6pm, we’ll be kicking off the evening part of our all-dayer, our regular ‘Sundown’ event with comedy, live music, poetry & short film. Again it’ll be 2 rooms, only £5.00 just to come to this part of the day and tickets will be available from Cafe Valise as of Tues 30th July or through us as above, or on the door. If you’d like to come to BOTH the Sun Up and Sundown events then it’ll be £10.00 for ALL DAY. Tickets available from the same places. So do be specific when buying a ticket or when contacting us for them. A bar will be available on the night and popcorn! As well as our usual 2nd-hand book SWOOK, where you bring along your unwanted 2nd-hand book to swap with another for FREE. Now, what’s the line-up for Sundown:

Our all-dayer event will kick off our special 10-year anniversary tour, ‘Arts On The Road’, where we’ll be putting on Sundown’s in Colchester, Peterborough, Norwich and Suffolk. There will be a separate post alllllll about the tour coming soon. You’ll be able to pick up flyers for this at our all-dayer.
So please, come along to our 10th Birthday and celebrate with us in style! This event has been supported using public funding through the National Lottery and Arts Council England. We look forward to seeing all you Sundowner’s there…
