Holy beards, that was a good show!

7th November, 2011

Aye, t’was a great, great, great show at the Union Chapel.  Other people, somewhere, were getting ready buying cheap hot dog buns , overpriced fireworks and making sinister Guy dolls for their Bonfire Nights. We were having a ball at the Daylight special at the chapel.  We had all-round good egg and fabulous singer/songwriter Matt Boulter (see his ‘pre-chapel excited’ face on the left), the charismatc and charming soul Ed Rome (with Bella on sax and Troop on bass).  Waxing lyrical for us was radio head and Peel’s shed man; John Osborne.

This was a fantastic day and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, must just say some thank-you’s and give out some genuine, heartfelt love to those involved so, drum-roll, here it comes….thanks to Ben Eshmade of Arctic Circle, without him these Sundown chapel gigs would not exist and we appreciate each and every single one of them.  Do check out all the other Daylight Events and AC gigs including AC Radio on Resonance FM. Thanks to all the artists for their amazing performances but also for giving us their time and passion, we were blown away by your talents and professionalism.  I urge you all to seek their music and writing out now!  Thanks to all the team at Margins Project, you and your smiles and your quiches are just brilliant.  Thanks to the chaps at SOA, you know who you are and we love this chapel tradition that we got going on!  We fully appreciate your support and belief in us, makes us feel very looked after.  Finally, thanks to Dominic Chinea for graphic design, friends that took some of our flyers and promoted, to the Sundown team (Chez, Kel, Troop, Dooz), Time Out for giving us Pick of the Week, all the staff at The Barnsbury pub in Islington and to you, the audience who came along and supported our wee, humble organisation! Actually, additional thanks to Troop aka Chris Davison for he drove, he played bass, he promoted like a mutha, he was super!

Sundown is thankful to know a lot of bloody nice people and you all support who we are and what we do, it means so much and shows like these are a bit special.  So, thank-you.  We will back at the chapel in 2012, dates TBA, just keep checking the website for details.  Coming soon….news of our next Southend show @ The Alex, our Big Birthday Bash on 27th November. Ho yes.  It’s going to be a corker with one hell of a raffle.  Just want to say one last thanks to industry pals for helping to suggest different replacement acts for the gig, it really did help and I appreciate you all taking the time.  Similarly, thanks to all those lovely artists who replied to me.

Right, that’s it, I’ve annoyed myself now with my incessant need to thank everyone all the time.
